1. Midlands English Debating Winners
Bhuaigh ár bhfoireann díospóireachta i mBéarla Craobh Lár Tíre le déanaí. Táimid go léir an bhródúil astu.
Congrats to our English debating team of Tim, Aodha, Patrick, Kate,Theo and Allan on winning the midlands final of the Engish debating Primary schools competition. Well done also to their teacher Daithí Ó Dubháin.
2. Fleadh Ceoil
Tá páistí an ghnóthach ag ullmhú don Fleadh Chontae.
Children in the middle and senior classes are very busy preparing for the County Fleadh which takes place on Easter Monday in Strokestown. Children will participate in the music and comhrá gaeilge competitions.
3. Spórt
Tá treanáil tosnaithe arís do foirne na scoile taréis an gheimhridh. Tá Múinteoirí Daithí, Helena agus Ríona ag eagrú agus míle buíochas do na tuistí atá ag cabhrú le seo.
Training has started again after the winter season for our school hurling, camógie and football panels. Múinteoirí Daithí, Ríona and Helena organise this training from 2:40 – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

1. Credit Union Quiz
Comhghairdeas leis ár bhfoireann faoi 13 : Allan, Tim ,Seán agus Roddie a bhuaigh an chéad áit ins an Tráth na gCeist a bhí ar siúl in Ostán na Mainistreach ar an Domhnach seo caite. Beidh siad ag dul ar aghaidh anois go dtí an chéad bhabtha eile.
Congrats to our Under 13 team of Allan, Tim, Seán and Roddie who won the Credit Union quiz last Sunday in the Abbey Hotel. They defeated all the other teams from the locality and we were very proud of them. They will take part in the midlands final at the beginning of March in Moate.
2. English debating
Bhuaigh foireann amháin de fhoireann díospóireachta na Gaelscoile ins an dara babtha den chomórtas díospóireachta Béarla. .
Our English debating team of Allan, Tim, Patrick, Theo, Aodha and Kate have won the first two rounds of the primary schools debating competition. We wish them well in the next round.

1. English Debating
Comhghairdeas le Pádraig, Kate agus Aodha. Bhuamar an chéad babtha den chomórtas díospóireachta i gcoinne Ballaghlea N.S.
Congrats to our English debating team of Pádraig, Kate and Aodha. We won the first round of the Primary Schools Debating competition defeating Ballaghlea N.S. The motion for debate was “Ryanair is the best way to travel” We were proposing the motion. Go n-éirí libh sa chéad babtha eile a pháistí!
2. Lá Oscailte
Beidh maidin oscailte i nGaelscoil de hÍde ar an Satharn 2/3/’13 – 11:00 – 1p.m. Beidh fáilte roimh páistí a bheidh ag tosnú sa Ghaelscoil i mhí Méan Fómhair seo chugainn agus a gclann. Táimid ag súil le fáilte a chur romhaibh chuig na scoile.
Gaelscoil de hÍde will be holding an open morning on Saturday, 2nd March , 11:00 – 1 p.m. in the school. This will give pre-school children and their families an opportunity to visit the school, meet with teachers, parents and pupils and learn what the school has to offer to their child. There will be a formal address at 11:30 a.m. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

We had 2 wonderful nights of Christmas concerts last week. Without your help we would not have been able to give our pupils this opportunity…..
Thanks to all of you who organised the sound system, danced. helped clean the hall, brought chairs to and from the hall, organised and hung the backdrop. donated prizes for the raffle, bought raffle tickets, baked and made sandwiches, organised disco music, took photos, helped with Santa and dressed children appropriately.
Thanks to Coiste na dtuistí and parents of rang 2 and 4 who co-ordinated the nights.
Thanks to Seán Bailey for the sound, Michael Flahive for the hall and Sunshine Video Productions for the DVD.
A big thank you to all of the teachers and school staff ….. We worked together over the past few weeks preparing the children for these performances. It was a very worthwhile experience for all involved….. Míle buíochas.

1. Aonach na Leabhar
Beidh an Aonach Leabhar ar siúl ag tosnú ar an 6/11/’12 agus ag dul ar aghaidh go dtí an 16/11/’12. Tá súil againn go mbeidh sibh in ann tacaíocht a thabhairt don aonach seo.
Our Annual Scholastic Book Fair takes place in the school from 6th November to the 16th November. This will be open to parents and friends on Tuesday 13th November from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday 14th November from 3:00-5:30pm. We hope that you will support this fair as 60% of monies spent will come back to the school in free books.

Gaelscoil de hide will be offering a course on Basic internet security skills to adults. The course will run over 3 nights – Wednesday 7/11/’12, Monday 12/11/’12 and Wednesday 14/11/’12 from 7 – 9 p.m.
The course content will include items such as :
- How to add parental controls
- How to limit the amount of time children can spend on the computer
- Viewing Internet history
- Blocking certain websites
- Social Media – Facebook
- Create and send emails
- Shop online
