Tá an scéal "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" le Carol McCloud cloiste ag na páistí i ngach rang. Dar leis an scéal tá buiceád ag gach duine ag bíonn sé á líonadh i rith an lae le rudaí a dhéanaimid do dhaoine eile agus rudaí a dhéanann daoine eile dúinn. Tá an téama seo pléite againn leis na páistí go léir. Nuair atá ár mbuicéid lán bímid sona sásta agus nuair atá siad folamh bímid brónach. Mothaíonn tú go maith nuair a líonann tú buicéid daoine eile. Beimid ag cleachtadh a bheith ag líonadh buicéid ar scoil agus moladh do na páistí a bheith á chleachtadh sa bhaile freisin. Le bhur gcabhair, tá súil againn go mbeidh an scoil lán de pháistí cabhracha, cineálta agus cairdiúil.
Children in all classes have heard the story “Have you Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud. This story stems from the idea that everyone carries an invisible bucket with them throughout the day. It is filled by kind acts they do or that others do for them. We have discussed the idea of filling our own bucket and that of others in the classroom. A ‘Bucket Filler” is someone who shows positive character traits such as kindness, consideration, respect and a positive attitude in the face of adversity. When our bucket is full we feel happy, confident and contented. When our bucket is empty we feel sad, unhappy and unsure of ourselves. When we show kindness or help our friends we fill their buckets (grow their happiness) but we also fill our own bucket - it feels good to know we have impacted positively on those around us. We are introducing this programme to the school and we will be encouraging the children to be “Bucket Fillers” at home also. With your help, we hope that the school will be full of helpful, kind and friendly children.
